Yoga Classes at India Center

Yoga is for every one. Each individual does it in their own comfort zone. The purpose of Yoga is self realization. Yoga brings discipline in life.Quality of life improves with regular yoga practice.

From the Instructor :

Yoga is an ancient holistic wisdom of India. It is a practical, methodological and systemic discipline for unfolding the unlimited potentialities of mankind. It has evolved over the centuries and was formulated into the Yoga Sutras by sage Patanjali. He has formulated Yoga as an Eight Limbs or Eight Fold path which leads to Self realization. Yoga is derived from Sanskrit word Yuj. It means integration or union. Thus Yoga is total integration of human personality at increasingly subtle levels which leads to Union of Atma with Parmatma or pranic energy with cosmic energy. Yoga leads to higher state of awareness. It restores mind to its simple, calm and original peaceful nature. Practicing Asana regularly increases circulation of fresh blood throughout the body and keeps body free of disease and toxins which are consequences of unhealthy habits and fast life style.

Eight steps to follow are-

  1. Yama (Principles or moral code)
  2. Niyama (Personal Disciplines)
  3. Asana (Yoga Positions or Yogic Postures)
  4. Pranayamas (Yogic Breathing)
  5. Pratyahara (Withdrawal of Senses)
  6. Dharana (Concentration on Object)
  7. Dyan (Meditation)
  8. Samadhi (Salvation)

 General Rules

  1. Yoga must be done with empty stomuch, preferably in the morning.
  2. This  Yoga class is open to all ages from 18 to 81.
  3. You may drink cup of tea of milk  one hour prior to class.
  4. Light snack before two hours of class is ok.
  5. If you had moderate to heavy meal, you must wait for 6 hours before Yoga practice.
  6. Wear comfortable clothes.
  7. Bring your own yoga-mat.

Bharti Bhakta is certified Yoga instructor from Yoga Institute of Lonawala, India. She is also discipline of Swami Ramadev baba and has received training in Rishikesh, India. She has received B.S. in Clinical science from San Francisco State University. Having science back ground helps her understand the ancient science of Yoga and like to spread it to everyone because good health is a birth right of every human being. She is associated with ISW for last 25 years & has served in executive committee of ISW for many years. She Runs Assisted Living Community in Leominster, as her profession. Serving elderly population gives her great sense of satisfaction. She is also member and past President of Rotary Club of Fitchburg. She lives with her husband and two children, Deepti and Roshan.
