Hasya Kavi Sammelan April 2014 - Pictures posted

A wonder ful evening with fantastic performances.

Mr. Manoj  Misra, a regular attendee  commented: "Alok Shrivastav may have to come back to talk about his Ghazals in the CD that I listened in the car. Choubey Ji was just great - his alpins were incisive. Sharvesh Asthana - had a repeat performance from few years ago when we last saw him. Kudos to the organizers for all the efforts and the association who organizes it on a regular basis. A bit of drive for us from CT but better than going to NY/NJ."

Recollections from the 2013 ISW Grand Gala

As I walked into Mechanics Hall on the night of the India Society of Worcester Gala, I was not only overwhelmed by the beauty of the building but more importantly by the wonderfully jubilant atmosphere. Here we are to celebrate an institution borne out of love and fostered by family. The India Society of Worcester was celebrating its 50th year as an essential presence in our lives, and we could not have been happier about it.
The Gala had no shortcomings. From Masala Art’s decadent and delicious appetizers and dinner to the photography to commemorate the evening, the night was filled with lovely conversation remembering the past and looking forward to the future. Stories from founding members of ISW mixed with ideas for new events and trips from the newest members of the Executive board. The spectrum of life stories that interacted that night was commemorative of India Society of Worcester as an institution, a bridge between the tried and true, and the new and unexpected.
Moving upstairs to the spectacular ballroom, we were treated to a night filled with the comedy styling’s of Dan Ninan, magical melodies by Aaroh and most special, a tribute to the diversity of our society and our country through dance. The most esteemed dance teachers from our area; Shaila Verma, Kalaimangai, Jayshree Bala Rajamani, Jasmine Shah, Shamoyita Mukherjee and Sheethal Bhuvanendra, presented dances that blended the rich artistic traditions of India with the authenticity and expression characteristic of these classical and contemporary dance forms. The costumes and choreography burst with color and enthusiasm and even more glowing were the dancers themselves.
The evening ended with an elaborate spread of desserts and tea complemented by our favorite tunes of yesterday and today, presented by Aaroh. Looking around the room, it was evident the celebration and excitement of ISW’s Golden Jubilee and the humility and honor we all felt, being part of such a blessed and warm community.
