The much awaited Antakshari competition from ISW was held on April 9th at the India Center.
It was a great start to 2016 with 17 teams participating. Some participants were also from out of state. Out of the 17 semifinalists, 5 were chosen to go to the finals round. With the usual fun rounds like askhar, dhun, word, the finals really tested the teams knowledge of Bollywood film music. There was active participation from the audience and the crowd enjoyed tense moments, aha moments and beautiful melodious singing moments. Delicious Indian food was available to satisy the taste buds.

This month's Sadhana - Saraswati Puja was sponsored by ISW cultural school. Most of the school students along with their parents and grand parents attended this wonderful event. The students enjoyed performing a Puja with their own Puja thali.
The Puja was held by Neena Mohanka and Been Krishnan. The beautiful decor and arrangement of Puja was beautifully done by Carolyn ji Passey. There were many bhajan and song performances by the students of Neena Mohanka's class, ISW Marathi Shala Students and Bhuvana Gaesh's students.
All the group performances created a great ambience of purity and devotion. Puja event was concluded by filling up the hall with the sounds of melodious Aarati. There were more than 80 attendees at the pooja and this added to the suceessful events of ISW's religious activities.
India Society of Worcester celebrates Pongal.......................................Balakrishnan Chandrakasan
ISW with a mission to promote and develop Indian culture by bringing people together through social and cultural activities, celebrated second Pongal vizha (harvest thanksgiving festival) on Feb 28, 2016 with a large gathering of guests from the Indian community. This program was organized by ISW Tamil school with great support from teachers (Ahila, Ravi Raja, Balki and Rinija) along with the help from students and parents. The center stage was beautifully decorated to reflect the Pongal celebration. All the adults and kids with festive attire made the event very authentic and colorful. Over 200 participants, members, guests and invitees from ISW Tamil School, Kalaimagal Tamil School and Gaanavaaridhi School of music attended the grand event with 50 plus kids performing variety of programs reflecting Tamil culture and tradition.
