ISW kicked off its Religious event series with the celebration of Makar Sankrant / Pongal / Lodhi on January 15 at the India Center. ISW Marathi Shala Parents' group organized this event with an enthusiasm. The program started with a Ganesha Vandana sung by Marathi Shala student Dhruv Jagan. Then Mrs. Vaijayanti Joshi explained the importance of celebration of Sankrant and how we worship the Sun on this occasion. She said 'back in India the people worship Sun, the God of energy and light. The Sun shifts into zodiacal sign of Makar on its celestial path. This is the first change in the zodiac after winter solistice.'

The Crisis Committee team of India Society of Worcester would like to extend their heartfelt Thanks to all the volunteers, participants and attendees of the Christmas Celebrations held on December, 3rd, 2016 at Floral Street High School, Shrewsbury.
In the spirit of giving in this Christmas season, people donated very generoulsy to help the children of Domestic Violence candidates. Nearly $800 were collected and were used to help those who needed it the most. The funds were distributed to the mothers of two little children to buy groceries and winter supplies. A check was also given to the mother to buy a twin size bed for her 16 years old disabled
Annual Diwali Cultural Program 2016................................................Vinay Vyas
ISW held its Annual Diwali Cultural Show on November 12 at the Sherwood Middle School in Shrewsbury, MA. It was extremely entertaining event focusing on Indian culture. The extent of our Indian culture was more than adequately depicted via 50 dance and singing performances. Participants ranged from 3 year old to over 50 years - yes we have a huge group of talented performers within our ISW reach. An overwhelming response on performance requests needed us to extend the event time by an hour! We are happy that we were able to accommodate every request.
On Saturday November 5, 2016 ISW collaborated with the Worcester Art Museum for its first ever Diwali festival at the Renaissance Court of the museum. The day long event was had exceptional participation from a broad and varied regional audience.
