ISW Annual Camping Trip

The fifth annual ISW camping trip to Camp Resolute, a Boy scout Reservation in Bolton, MA from June 23 - June 25, 2017 was a great success. It was great to see many first time campers. It was nice to see several families with small children and grandparents. Activities included Archery, Riffle Shooting, Canoeing, Kayaking and field sports. Playing Antakshari around the campfire while the kids had fun making Smores in the campfire added a cerian uniqueness to the trip. There was of course lots of India food and desserts.

As people gathered at the steps of the State House in Boston on March 10, the night was cold. The sky spelled sadness with the dark blue. The cold air bit at people's ears as they stood, waiting. These people had come to mourn the tragic deaths of the Indians that were killed in the past few weeks because people think they don't belong here.

People kept piling in as the day grew older and a diverse mix of people had started to build up. Indians, Muslims, Chinese, Blacks, and Whites had all come to take a stand against the profiling that had occurred. I had talked to a few of the people there.

Shrewsbury Selectman Candidates Open House

A  packed hall with an engaged audience,  many thoughtful questions  and a spirit of respectful conversation marked the Shrewsbury Selectman Candidates openhouse.

A reschedule because of weather did not deter the attendees or the candidates.  It was good to hear the candidates for Board of Selectman Beth Casavant, Moe DePalo, Rashid Shaikh, Melisa Hollenback and Ben Tartaglia present their views on our schools, town budget, water issues, attracting new businesses and the growing diversity in our town.

Many attendees commented later that that they found the discussion to be insightful and that they appreciated the respectful and collaborative tone of the conversation.
