ISW elects new Executive Board

Ashish Cowlagi and Puneet Kohli were elected as the President and Vice President of Indian Society of Worcester for 2017-2019 at the General Body Meeting and elections held on January 22, 2017. In addition, the following were elected to various other positions on the Executive Committee. Congratulations to all!

Christmas - A Time of Giving

The Crisis Committee team of India Society of Worcester  would like to extend their heartfelt Thanks to all the volunteers, participants and attendees of the Christmas Celebrations held on December, 3rd, 2016 at Floral Street High School, Shrewsbury.

In the spirit of giving in this Christmas season, people donated very generoulsy to help the children of Domestic Violence candidates.  Nearly $800 were collected and were used to help those who needed it the most. The funds were distributed to the mothers of two little children to buy groceries and winter supplies.  A check was also given to the mother to buy a twin size bed for her 16 years old disabled

Satsang - January 2017

Satsang January 2017 ----------------------------------- Sarita Deshpande

ISW kicked off its Religious event series with the celebration of Makar Sankrant / Pongal / Lodhi on January 15 at the India Center. ISW Marathi Shala Parents' group organized this event with an enthusiasm. The program started with a Ganesha Vandana sung by Marathi Shala student Dhruv Jagan. Then Mrs. Vaijayanti Joshi explained the importance of celebration of Sankrant and how we worship the Sun on this occasion. She said 'back in India the people worship Sun, the God of energy and light. The Sun shifts into zodiacal sign of Makar on its celestial path. This is the first change in the zodiac after winter solistice.'

ISW Christmas celebrations - 2016

ISW Christmas celebrations 2016.....................................Ernest Gulla 
 
The Annual ISW Christmas celebration was held on December 3,  2016 at Floral Street School in Shrewsbury. The beautifully decorated lighted Christmas tree, with green wreaths , red Christmas bows  and green garlands  surrounded by children and families in festive Indian attire brought the Christmas Spirit to the large Indian gathering.  Dr. Thomas Idiculla, McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School , presented the story of Christmas  giving  hope to the hurting world, societies and families with the reason for the season. .Mr. Ashish Cowlagi,  Vice President , ISW welcomed the audience and  Mr. Shaikh Hoque, ISW  presented the overview of the  2016 ISW activities.
