india center Expansion

The India center expansion committee has made tremendous progress towards an expansion of the India Center. With this planned expansion, India Center will become a community center, a hub where the Indian American community congregates, and a foundation for India Society’s community engagement efforts for the community at large. We envision multiple activities with diverse age groups, both scheduled and spontaneous take place at the same time, giving the community the ability to strengthen its network. India Center expansion plans have been developed. The expansion will add over 4,000 sq.ft. to the building.

• We engaged Elite Construction of Fichburg as the GC for the construction phase and work has begun in full swing!
• We broke ground in October 2019
• Majority of the site work is complete and the first layer of asphalt on the new parking lots is done which gives us a good feel for what the new space will be.
• Foundation for the new building is complete
• The old house needed asbestos abatement prior to demolition, which is also complete. The old garage building will be demolished in the next few days as well
• The total overall budget for the project is $ 2.5M.
• We are expecting construction to complete by Summer 2020.
