Learn from firsthand experiences of people who have had to deal with managing and disposing of properties and familial commitments in India. What worked, what are the caveats? From registering wills, to setting up Powers of Attorney, from transferring real estate within a family to selling your property, this panel has done it all. Come and learn from their practical, on the ground experiences of what works and how to think ahead if you have family in India and need to plan. This is not legal advice but based on personal experience dealing with a number of different situations that many are facing with family and property in India.

Panelists:

  • Raj Melville will share the trials and tribulations of passing on without a will in India, finding a buyer and closing a sale in Mumbai
  • Ramesh Advani’s experience with the sale of ancestral residential property in Mumbai and Delhi, property purchase in Rajasthan, the intricacies of Indian & US capital gains taxation, and remittances to US
  • NavinKumar Loganathan on his experience in Chennai creating a will, transferring property without a will, closure of bank accounts and why a property encumbrance certificate is important.
  • Aditya Tibrewal on wealth and retirement planning in the US and India
