ISW Tutoring program Summary
ISW School launched a new online Students & Tutor match program to help parents with arranging one on one online tutoring for the kids with help from IYG. The topics can be Math, Physics, Science, English, Languages and Life skills like Time Management. The hours would be volunteer hours, based on student tutor availability. For the initial pilot program, it would be open to ISW members only and IYG members, so we can monitor this program for online safety.
1. Program will run from September to the end of June 2021, however commitment is expected from our volunteers until the end of January 2021, for now.
2. Student tutors will be in grade 9 or up
3. One on one tutoring was recommended since some kids would be hesitant to ask questions in a larger setting
4. One-hour training/orientation for safe online etiquette to be held for student tutors
5. Before classes start, an initial meeting to held possibly 4-way between (a) Parents of student and (b) student tutors and (c) assigned Student tutors (d) ISW school rep
6. Personal WebEx/Zoom to be set up by parents or student tutors, will not be set up by ISW.
7. Volunteer hours to be signed by IYG advisor: Shubh Agrawal
8. CORI check for student tutors between 14-18 years is a TBD.

New ISW Tutoring program
ISW Cultural and Language School is launching a new online Students & Tutor match program to help IYG members get volunteer hours and help parents by providing one on one online tutoring for their kids with help from IYG members. For now we expect a commitment to the end of January , minimum one hour per week. There will be an initial online meeting for tutors, and a CORI check later. Sessions begin September 14, 2020.

कुठेतरी आता अकस्मात एक अदृश्य दर्शन दे
देवा आता साजरा करायला एक सोहळा तरी दे
आणि असे म्हणत, पाहता पाहता भाद्रपद महिना येऊन ठेपला आणि सर्व संकटांवर मात करत आमचे बाप्पा खरंच दर्शन द्यायला हजर झाले. पुन्हा उत्सवाचे वातावरण पसरले आणि कार्यक्रमाची तयारी सुरु झाली. श्रुसबरी ह्या बॉस्टन जवळील शहरात, गणेशोत्सव साजरे करण्याचे आमचे हे ९ वे वर्ष.
यंदाच्या वर्षीचा चा गणेशोत्सव मात्र जरासा वेगळा. करोना महामारी मुळे जगभर सार्वजनिक सण साजरे करायला जे निर्बंध दिले गेले आहेत त्या नुसार आम्ही सुद्धा ह्या वर्षीचा सोहळा "virtual" म्हणजे आपापल्या घरातून करायचे ठरवले. नेहमीप्रमाणे लगबग आणि नियोजन काही महिने आधी पासून सुरु झाले. डिजिटल entertainment ची नव-नवीन साधनं आत्मसात करून आम्ही कार्यक्रम करायला सज्ज झालो.
ऑगस्ट ३० ला दुपारी २ वाजता, सर्व यंत्रणा "live" झाली, म्हणजे facebook live ह्या माध्यमातून व्हीडीओ द्वारे पूर्ण सोहळा रसिकांना पाहता आला. श्री. यतीन व सौ. स्मिता मांजरेकर ह्यांच्या घरी रीतसर पूजा झाली. छान सजावट, फुलांची आरास आणि तेजस्वी बाप्पाची मूर्ती पाहून सगळेच सुखावले. स्मिताच्या आई वडिलांनी पूजा सांगितली व सर्व रसिकांना आणि भक्तांना घरी बसून पाहता आली आणि बाप्पा चे दर्शन घेता आले. "दुधाची तहान ताकावर" असा प्रकार जरी असला तरी, हे हि नसे थोडके म्हणत आम्ही ह्यातही आनंद घेतला. पूजे नंतर सामूहिक आरती सुद्धा छान पार पडली. अनेक देवांच्या आरत्या म्हणाल्या गेल्या आणि अनेक कुटुंब आपापल्या घरातून त्यात एका पाठोपाठ सामील झाली. मर्यादा पाळत त्यातल्यात्यात जास्ती जास्त लोकांना सहभागी करून घेत आरती छान झाली.
नंतर लगेचच करमणुकीचा कार्यक्रम सुरु झाला. पूर्णपणे आभासी (virtual ) कार्यक्रम करणे, रचणे आणि पाहणे हा आमच्या साठी आणि श्रोत्यांसाठी सुद्धा नवीनच अनुभव होता. सर्व पूर्व-ध्वनी मुद्रित करून ठेवलेल्या चित्रफिती तयार होत्या. कार्यक्रमाचे सूत्र संचालन मात्र "live" होते. अश्या स्वरूपाचा कार्यक्रम असल्याने ह्या वर्षीचे नावीन्य म्हणजे महाराष्ट्रातून अनेक प्रसिद्ध लोकांना आम्हाला सामील करून घेता आले. कार्यक्रम "retro to metro" ह्या theme वर आधारित होता. मराठी आणि हिंदी मधील प्रसिद्ध सिनेमांवर आधारित नाटुकली तयार करण्यात आली. आपल्या जवळच्या मित्र मैत्रिणींना पडद्यावर पाहून सर्वांना छान वाटलं. मराठी चित्रपटांमध्ये, सचिन पिळगावकर यांचे "अष्टविनायक", "आत्मविश्वास", आणि "अशी हि बनवा-बनावी" ह्यांचा समावेश होता. तर हिंदी मधे "शोले", "मैने प्यार किया" आणि "थ्री इडियटस" ह्या तीन चित्रपटांवर आधारित गाणी आणि नाटुकली करण्यात आली. आपापल्या घरी सर्वानी उत्साहानी आणि भरपूर मेहेनत घेऊन चित्रफिती तयार केल्या होत्या. कार्यक्रमाचे, वर नमूद केल्या प्रमाणे, मुख्य वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे महाराष्ट्रातून, सुप्रसिद्ध संगीत दिग्दर्शक, सिनेमा दिग्दर्शक, गायक, श्री. डॉ. सलील कुलकर्णी ह्यांनी सर्वांना शुभेच्छा दिल्या, त्याच बरोबर श्री. अशोक हांडे (मराठी बाणा ) ह्यांची सुद्धा गणपतीची गाणे गाऊन त्यांच्या शुभेच्छा आमच्या ISW गणेशोत्सव मंडळाला पाठवल्या. श्री. सुधीर गाडगीळ ह्यांची त्यांच्या अनोख्या शैलीत पु ल देशपांड्यांची आठवण सांगत, कार्यक्रमाची रंगात वाढवली. नंतर प्रसिद्ध सिनेमा लेखक, दिग्दर्शक, "मी शिवाजीराजे भोसले बोलतोय", "शूट आऊट आट वडाळा ", "वजीर", "आणि डॉ. काशिनाथ घाणेकर" ह्या सारखे दर्जेदार चित्रपट करणारे श्री. अभिजित देशपांडे, ह्यांच्याशी साधलेला संवाद प्रदर्शित झाला. अभिजित देशपांडेंनी या गप्पांमधून त्यांचे अनुभव, आठवणी, अभिताभ बच्चन सारख्या मोठ्या लोकां बरोबरचे अनुभव संगितले . मुलाखत खूप रंगली. त्यांनतर मुलींनी केलेला एक बहारदार नृत्याचा कार्यक्रम रसिकांना खूप आवडला.
तब्बल २ तासांचा असा online/virtual कार्यक्रम कोणत्याही तांत्रिक अडचणी न येता अगदी प्रभावी पणे पार पडला. डिजिटल एंटरटेनमेंट चे हे आगळे वेगळे माध्यम आता अंगवळणी पडतेय असे वाटते. Virtual कार्यक्रम प्रभावी आणि रसिकांना खुश करणारा झाला यात वादच नाही. माणूस खूप परिवर्तनशील असतो, आणि तो परिस्थिती प्रमाणे बदल आत्मसात करतो. त्यामुळे यंदाच्या ह्या covid च्या परिस्थिती मध्ये साजरा केलेला हा उत्सव आपल्या सर्वांच्याच लक्षात राहील.
मनात हे बदलेले जग कायम घर करून राहणार... पुढल्या वर्षी मात्र हे जगभरातले सर्व चिंतेचे सावट दूर झालेले असेल, आणि आम्ही पुन्हा पूर्वी सारखे, नटून थटून, भरपूर ढोल-ताशांचा आवाज करत बाप्पांचे स्वागत करू आणि पंगती सकट, मोदक, श्रीखंडाचा भरपूर आस्वाद घेऊ अशी सगळे आशा करूया ..
संस्कृती आणि परंपरा ही, काळ, परिस्थिती, माणसं, …माणसांची हौस ह्यांच्या पलीकडे असते. काळ, बदलतो, परिस्थिती बदलते, माणसं बदलतात, पण भावना, परंपरा, आणि सोहळे हे कुठल्या ना कुठल्या स्वरूपात सुरूच राहतात, आणि सुरूच राहणार.....

We are happy to announce that Registration is open for ISW Cultural & Language School Sept 2020-May 2021
The ISW Cultural and Language School was established in 1992. We believe that ‘a language binds a culture’ and we have a home base at our India Center Center in Shrewsbury, for our children who are the future of the Indian Community. Language and Culture are intertwined and we provide a safe place to learn, ask questions and participate in arts, music, activities and yoga. The school will meet online for now every Saturday & Sunday morning from September to May. We currently have 17 classes in 5 different languages (Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati,Tamil, Telugu) for all age groups, including beginning Hindi for teenagers and adults for Hindi . ISW Cultural and Language School would like to thank the volunteer teachers for adapting to the online instruction since March 2020, and to the parents for helping us continue our mission of teaching languages. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us, especially in our day to day lives, both emotionally and financially. Keeping in mind all these considerations we would to share our plans for the upcoming academic year Online Open House on September 20th, 2020 attended by parents, teachers and students Online First Semester School starts on September 26th, 2020 Early signup by September 12, will get free textbooks. We are offering a split semester payment option this year given the uncertainty of 2021. Keeping in mind that the current fees are nominal due to support from the community for providing the India Center, we can also offer a 10% discount for the first online semester of 18 sessions. Example: 10% off half the regular $220 fee, so it will be 10% x $110 = $100. For the second semester, we will incur additional expenses to ensure clean and sanitized premises when we have in person classes/events and the new building is ready. The fees will be $110, payable in January 2021 if we have in person, or $100 if all classes school stays online .
We will offer online yoga, thanks to Alka and culture classes on alternate Sundays, the new schedule to be published soon.
Telugu held on Saturday School Fees: There is no change in the fees, and they will continue online for both semesters, plus participate on online yoga and culture classes on Sundays
Note that ISW offers free tuition if needed, due to financial hardship, contact us if you want additional information. By the end of December 2020, we will review the issue again and do a survey, keeping in mind the safety of the volunteer teachers & kids.
